Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute was founded in 2000 to continue the Folonari family winemaking tradition, which dates back to the end of the 18th century. The company consists of proprietary estates representing the best of Tuscan denominations.
Under the leadership of Giovanni Folonari, the winery is now carrying out an important project to revalue the territory and its diversity.
By investing in individual estates and focusing on the production of quality wines, the goal is to respond to the needs and tastes of modern consumers. The company’s philosophy is to remain faithful to tradition but at the same time to be open to innovation.
Nozzole, which dates back to the 1300s, is one of the historic Chianti Classico estates. Its distinctive characteristics come from its biodiversity, which sees 90 hectares of specialized vineyards surrounded by about 300 hectares of olive groves, a centenary pine forest and Mediterranean scrub. This makes it an area of unique natural beauty and the ideal habitat for all species of local fauna.
Sangiovese in purity is the absolute protagonist of Nozzole wines. It is expressed in all its potential with the Chianti Classico Nozzole and the reserves La Forra and Gran Selezione Giovanni Folonari.
The Tenute del Cabreo extend over two areas, one in Greve in Chianti, where the Relais de Charme Borgo and Pietra del Cabreo are located, and the other in Panzano in Chianti. Cabreo SuperTuscans wines have been produced in these estates for 40 years.
Cabreo wines stand out for their great personality and refinement. Since 1982 Cabreo Il Borgo has impressed wine lovers with its historic blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. La Pietra is the first white Supertuscan from 100% Chardonnay grapes, while Black is a precious interpretation of Pinot Noir.
Tenuta La Fuga is located in the production area of Brunello di Montalcino and is the smallest of the Folonari estates.
The 10 hectares of vineyards are entirely dedicated to the production of Sangiovese Grosso, the grape of Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello and Riserva.
The southwest side of Montalcino, where the vineyards of La Fuga are located, enjoys climatic and soil characteristics that favour the production of harmonious, mineral wines with great character and intensity.
The Campo al Mare estate is entirely devoted to the production some of Italy’s most modern wines. It covers 30 hectares of vineyards ranging from the sandy soils near the sea to the hills that run parallel to the coast.
Campo al Mare rosso, the most representative wine of the estate, is a blend of international grapes. Alongside it are the Vermentino, the Rosé and two mono-varietal excellences such as Baia al Vento, 100% Merlot, and Gallico, 100% Petit Verdot.
